blog handsEver wonder when or how those stubborn age spots appeared on your hands? You are not alone. The backs of our hands are probably one of the most neglected parts of the body, and this is largely why they show so much sun damage. It is from years of daily exposures without any sunscreen. Simple actions such as gardening, going for a jog, walking the dog, and driving your car, are all opportunities for your hands to be on the receiving end of UVA/UVB rays. This not only ages your skin, but increases your chance of developing a skin cancer.

How about keeping a tube of sunscreen in the car, this way it is easier to remember? If you don’t like creams they even sell sunscreen sticks which leave very little residue and won’t make your hands slippery.

Driving gloves are also available that are made with sun protective fabric that is UPF 50. Bienvenu & Sefon (as photographed) produce several examples of the new styles available for driving gloves. The gloves can range in price from $10 to $50, and as this market continues to grow more and more options are becoming available. They also come with gloves that have the fingers cut off, invoking Madonna’s signature style.
